Panchgani - A Short Getaway

Who doesn't love vacations?? Everybody does. But, having a 1+ year old daughter means planning a vacation or even a short getaway is like a huge responsibility. Packing a gazillion things, starting from lots of spare set of clothes to diapers to making a box of toys to a whole set of medicines to keeping stock of what-all-she-can-eat and n number of other things you can think of. We planned a vacation in the first week of April with our kiddo to Panchgani, the beautiful hill station.

The breathtakingly beautiful view of the valley

It was a huge task to pack everything, and by everything means leaving nothing important behind for the kiddo. Vacations with kids are fun but a little worrisome, considering the fact that the kid gets to eat properly or doesn't fall sick. I was worried too. But guess what, the trip was fabulous. We had such a great time. The melons and watermelons we had taken during the trip were a great hunger rescue for our daughter Myra. Thanks to the healthy Maharashtrian breakfast options like Poha and Upma, our princess was in for a healthy treat.

We stayed at Saj Resort, which is on Panchgani Mahabaleshwar road. We had booked ourselves luxury room with sit-out. The room had a small patio in front with a swing to relax. The luxury rooms were overlooking a beautiful garden, which was the perfect place for our darling daughter to play at. She really enjoyed walking barefoot on the grass and playing there with her toys, amidst trees and gorgeous flowers. The weather was pleasant and used to be cool in the evenings.

The resort had lot of small places in every nook-and-corner to keep the kids occupied, starting with a small net place full of colorful balls for small kids to enjoy. Also, they had a kids park with all sorts of swings and slides one can think of. The little girl enjoyed each n every one of those. The water in the swimming pool along with the baby pool was clean and my darling daughter enjoyed the splashes thoroughly with her dad.

Apart from the time we spent at resort, we visited few points in Mahabaleshwar, like Kate's point, Needle Hole point and Arthur's Seat point. These points give the most exquisite valley view from all sides. We had also visited the famous Table Land in Panchgani, which supposedly is the second longest mountain plateau in Asia. Also, a quick visit to The Cheese Factory was loved by my daughter, as she was busy trying all the cheese flavors. She loved the Garlic And Herbs cheese spread there, which tastes heavenly. The mouth-watering cheese spread bottle got finished in two days. It's a must buy when you visit Panchgani. Last but not the least, the never to be missed delicious sandwiches, pizzas and strawberry with cream at Mapro garden. The kiddo loved the french fries and strawberry with cream and relished every bite of it.

It was a mesmerizing two day trip to Panchgani, and I am looking forward to more such short getaways in future. We plan to stay at a resort with a good valley view next time, though Saj was also a winner in terms of gardens and more such natural beauty. Go plan a trip to Panchgani with your kiddo. The kids definitely gel better with nature and natural beauty all around. Happy traveling !!
